Syngaschem during the corona crisis
Following government directives, all laboratories at the DIFFER Institute, where Syngaschem resides, have been closed since Mid-March, and at this time we know that the DIFFER building will remain closed for the entire month of April. Hence our staff, PhD students and interns are all working from home. This does not keep us from meeting each other, as electronic means such as Skype offer great opportunities for on line meetings, see the photo of the work meeting held at April 1, in which Foteini Sapountzi presented her recent work on an iron phosphide electrocatalyst. This system has potential to replace platinum cathodes in proton-exchange membrane based electrolyzers.
Shortly after the meeting ended we learned that her article on this promising electrocatalyst was accepted for publication in the ACS journal Energy and Fuels. Congratulations! A separate news item will appear shortly on our website.
It just demonstrates that we can still use our time very productively even when access to the laboratories is not available.
